Near Lyme Regis in West Dorset, Wellhayes was rescued from near dereliction by the current owners Emma and James. The Wellhouse, Wellhayes Barn and The Store are available to rent either individually or together. Taken together they can sleep up to sixteen people. All the properties are completely separate, independent, and not overlooked. Surrounded by pasture, wild flowers and woodland, they look out over a large lake with its own rowing boat and wood-fired sauna on a secluded deck.

The Wellhouse, sleeps up to eight people over four bedrooms with three bathrooms. It has been sensitively restored to provide spacious living accommodation and features an architect designed 70m² extension with contemporary open plan kitchen and living space designed and built by award winning furniture designer James Verner. Wellhayes Barn, which can sleep up to six, was originally built as a hay barn in the early 1970's. Retaining its original corrugated iron roof, it has been converted to an exceptionally high standard into a 2-3 bedroom property with two bathrooms in a welcoming modern rustic interior. The master bedroom, with woodburning stove, has a super-king sized bed and ensuite bathroom. A well equipped kitchen, with large gas range, sits adjacent to the open plan living and dining area. The Store, sleeps two and is a romantic hideout adjacent to to the lake. The space of this old store has been creatively adapted using a warm minimal pared back aesthetic and muted tones showcasing the integrity of the raw materials – think band sawn door and window linings, a raw, smooth concrete floor – and combining it with up to date technology: luxurious underfloor heating, a smart TV and superbly equipped small kitchen. LOCATION

This tranquil haven is under a mile from the A35 and just under 3 hours from London by car. Axminster (3 miles) is well served by the mainline rail service from London Waterloo (2½ hours) and Exeter International Airport is just ½ hour away.

Wellhayes sits at the end of a bumpy secluded track that takes one over a stream to park by a tranquil lake surrounded by woodland. The coastal town of Lyme Regis is 2½ miles away and easily accessible by car, bicycle or on foot.

OUTSIDE

Wellhayes sits in 15 acres of woodland and pasture with its own private lake. The secluded lake in particular provides a wonderful space to unwind and relax with hammocks strewn between the trees.

The lake attracts all sorts of wildlife from ranging from dragonflies to duck, heron, moorhen and even the occasional cormorant .

Buzzards and the occasional Red Kite circle above the surrounding wild flower meadow which includes several varieties of orchid. The woodland abounds with roe deer, woodpecker, fox, badger owls and woodcock. Running along the southern edge of the pasture a stream meanders its way to the river Lim and exits our land under small, ancient arched stone bridge, the site of a long forgotten farmstead which is of much interest to local archaeologists.
